A favorite song:

The weather reminds me of this song we hear on Rejoice Radio once in a while:

We are really wet here right now, as we have had about 4.5 INCHES of rain since Friday night... Needless to say, there is no way we can be out in the fields in the next couple of days...

Today we worked on cleaning up the shop, as it had become a regular pigspen! We couldn't hardly get anything inside to work on it anymore, and seeing as everything was wet outside, we decided to dig in. :-) We made a lot of progress, but there is still a long way to go... I think we will be loading up a load of scrap iron and taking it up to the junk yard in Bismarck on Wednesday, so that will help clear out some room.

Thats all for now,

Workin' hard, Playin' hard...

Hello everybody,
As the title implies, I have been busy again lately... This past week I have been gone working for a friend of ours, Dave, helping him get his seeds in the ground... I was running the tractor with the Wishek disc, and Dave was doing all of the seeding. It went very well, only a couple of minor problems... It does get tireing sitting in a tractor, going round and round the field for 13 hours on end, but I guess that's what farming is all about! :-) It will be nice to have a little extra spending money too... ;-)
On a lighter note, last Saturday, Jacob and I went up to Wheels Wings n' Hobbies (WWNH) in Bismarck for the first DTRC (Dakota Thunder RC Club) race of the year. :-) Have you ever been to a RC race? Vote in the new poll! I took several videos of the races, check them out!
The 1/8 scale Monster Trucks:

The Short Course trucks:

The most exciting class: The 1/8 scale Nitro Buggies! I taped the whole A-Main race, which is about 15 minutes long... I had to split it into two clips to upload to YouTube, so here it is in two pieces:

This was our first time up at the races, although we had been to WWNH several times, and seen the track before, but hadn't ever driven on it, or watched an actual race. The races are set up as follows: In each class, there are 2 qualifiers, then if there are enough people in the class there will be a B-Main, with the leader of the B-Main getting bumped up to the A-Main in that class. If there aren't too many people, then there will only be an A-Main, with everybody participating... Jacob and I both raced in the 1/10 2wd electric class, with 2 qualifiers, and the B-Main. Surpriseingly, I actually won the B-Main, and got a chance at the Gold! Unfortunatly, one lap into the A-Main, I had trouble with my truck, and had to drop out... :-( Oh well, just making it to the A-Main on my first time up there was quite impressive. :-)
Got to go for lunch,
Andrew B.

I'll be gone...

Just a quick post to let you all know that I will be helping a friend of ours in the fields this week, so I probably won't be posting until next weekend... Now I need to get to bed, as I will be getting up early to hit the road...

Video clips...

A couple of days ago, Dad, Jacob and I went down to Kintyre where some guys from the railroad were loading the rocks that they got from us onto a short train, and then hauling them out to the lake, where they dumped them by the tracks... The train had just dumped, and was heading back to the loading area, so we walked around for a little while until it got back.
After standing outside in the rain for about ten minutes, the train finally got back from the lake, and was ready to be re-loaded. After a brief consultation with the guy in charge, it was decided that we would be allowed to ride in the train out to the lake! Here are some pictures from our 'Train Ride.'
Steve, coming to talk to us:

A view of the controls, sorry it's soo fuzzy:

And, as I took along my camcorder, I thought I would share a couple of video clips:

Here is a little interview I did of Jacob, while we were waiting for the train to get loaded:

Selling Calves

Hi all,
Well, Today's the big day! We spent most of the day yesterday sorting off our calves from last year, and hauling them to the Napoleon Livestock Auction barn. And, as we are getting out of the dairy business for several reasons, we are also selling 4 of our milk cows there, which is kind of sad... :-( Now we are praying for a good price... The market has been pretty good lately, so we are pretty hopeful. :-)
Have you ever been to a livestock auction? It is pretty interesting, although it gets a little boring after a couple of hours... Check out the Napoleon Livestock Auctions website! If you want, you can even watch the sale online! I think someone from our family will be going to the sale, so hopefully I will have some pictures to post later...
That's all for now,
Andrew B.
P.S. Check out Josh's excellent post on his views of young ladies modesty... I highly recommend it!

A newspaper clipping...

The local newspaper came in the mail yesterday, and I saw this on the front page:

That's almost exactly what I said in my last post! LOL! Had to share that...

April showers bring May WHAT?

I looked out the window this morning, and I saw a couple SNOWFLAKES!--Yikes! It has quit now, but there were a couple of flakes floating around out there for a while... I thought it was Spring! :-) Oh well, what can you expect in North Dakota?
As you probably already know, if you read any of my families blogs, the railroad has been taking our rocks, to help rebuild part of the track where it runs through Goose Lake. I thought I would post a couple of photos that you might not have seen yet:
High Seas on Goose Lake:
In this picture you can see the water spraying over the tracks: (Sorry it's so blurry)
I drove out a couple of days ago when they were loading up rocks, and got a couple of pictures:
A couple of pictures of where they are unloading the rocks (and dirt) down by the tracks in Kintyre:
Well, that'll have to be enough for now...

Mayday, Mayday!

SOS! Time has gotten away! Help me catch it again! ;-)
How can it be the first of May already? I haven't posted in over half a month! Yikes! I have been busy with cleaning grain, as we finally got my grain cleaner running on the 19th. We are just about done with the season, only a couple more guys to finish up as soon as the weather cooperates... :-) On Monday I have to go in to the bank and make my 1st payment on my grain cleaner. Whew! What a hectic couple of weeks.
On the lighter side, last Saturday, Cora and I were able to ride along with some of the Dagley family and some of the S. family, to the (Homeschool) graduation party for a mutual friend of ours, RubyAnn. :-) We had a good time listening to all of the music, the speeches, visiting with a bunch of friends, and eating chocolate covered strawberries! :-) For more info, and some pictures, check out Cora's post HERE. I am in the habit of video taping just about every event I go to, and this was no exception... Now I am working on making a DVD of the recording, for a late graduation gift. ;-) (Yes, I will be sending you one RubyAnn, but it might take a while...)
--- Cora and Jacob want to watch a movie now, so I will have to cut this short. I will write more when I get some time...
